The brand new Teen Leadership Council is for students that have demonstrated their ability to do well in a controlled and sheltered school setting but want to learn more real life leadership, project management, team work, problem solving, networking and people skills.
Program is not currently limited in number of students but we are focusing on having students from different schools, if we get a large number of students without really advertising the program, those that attend the same school will be compared to one another to determine who would best represent the school with preferrence to Seniors as they will not have another chance to participate, and to students with a 4.0 or greater.
We can accept any number of students however so understand that acceptance is more about being a right fit, then space.
Student must be a current Junior or Senior in a public or private school where a GPA is formulated and recognized nationally.
Competition students that are finalists or winners of the Teen Idol program are permitted.
Must have a 3.5 or higher GPA as of the last report card that should encompass your Freshman, Sophomore and part or all of your Junior or Senior year.
Must be US Citizen living within 35 miles of 97201 (downtown Portland) and meet all additional criteria and agree to the terms found on the Application (CLICK HERE to see),.
What you will do:
So many activities you will do in school where instructors and other adults do much of the work for you. In our program, we teach you some ropes, let you go to it, regroup and see what worked and what didn't, come up with new ideas and try again.
Students will be able to take the role of several positions - Distribution Manager, Auditor, Scout, Researcher, Team Member, Production Assistant, Student Liaison.
In addition, there will be a hierarchy of President, Vice President, Project Manager and Secretary and every student will be liaisons to their school.
You will help with ideas to support the Teen Idol programs, including the council, that will challenge students to be creative, positive, professional and learn both leadership from the management side and from the team member side.
Build resume' material, make friends, have fun, learn skills that can apply to all career paths and make the best of the hard work you have put in getting your grades to the highest levels and put it to good use.
Hour commitment is low as to not interrupt your school work. Just a few meetings in person with the whole team, and touchpoints during each week via phone and the rest electronic.
