AUDITIONS:
SUNDAY JUNE 21ST
REFUGE PDX - 116 SE YAMHILL ST, PORTLAND
1 PM AUDITION TIME FOR ALL COMPETITIONS
All Spanish & Russian applicants must be able to speak and sing in their competition
language and be able to speak, read and write in English - enough to be able to fully explain
their application and disclosures to their parent(s) if necessary.
Winner of each program gets $250, professional profile photo shoot (with hair and makeup)
and will tour around the state of Oregon and SW Washington with the English singers.
They will also be invited to perform at exclusive language or talent related events and
activities such as Stand up will perform at local comedy clubs, Spanish at Spanish only
events, and Russians at Russian only events.
All will perform at various English events including the State Fair and will be included in all
extra curricular activities such as travel, trips, events etc.
Top auditions from the 21st will be invited to attend a finale performance 1 week later on
June 28th to determine a single winner - no more than 7 students will make it to the finale in
each of the three competition areas due to timing constraints.

2] Spanish & Russian Singers: Prepare 60 - 90 seconds of a song to sing acapella (no sound
track). Stand up contestants need to come up with a 5 minute routine.
3] Bring school ID, state issued ID or Birth Certificate and show up at:

invited to compete on June 28th to determine who will win the cash prize and go on tour.

performing at various parks, venues and events with the English finalists. The Portland Parks & Recreation's
"Movies in the Park" and the Oregon State Fair are some of our common performance locations.
HOW WE DECIDE THE FINALISTS
Generally, the judges score the students as they audition. With a few exceptions, the higher scores result in
going through to the Finale. We do have the option of making exceptions to either add more students to go
forward than originally planned or put through less based on quality and quantity of contestants including their
attitude and professionalism. The producers have the final say in any case. Although there will be judges for the
finale for each language/standup, the producer(s) will determine the winner based on score, presentation,
attitude and punctuality and factors that need to be considered for someone that will represent the organization for
the next year, the best. Highest judge score isn't the sole considering factor (it's not a pageant).

12th unless you are home schooled or early graduates in which case you need to be age 13 thru 18 as of June
graduates welcome.
Must be a US citizen or legally able to live in the United States and intend on doing so thru Oct 31st 2015.
Must live within 35 miles of the city of Portland and be willing to commit to attending all competition rounds and
perform at least 4 times during the June - October tour. Those living near the 35 mile boundary may be eligible -
email to ask S9Qualifications@TeenIdol.org.
Must not be a trained finalist of a national talent competition with an unfair advantage over other students - ask to
be sure you qualify at S9Qualifications@TeenIdol.org.
No professional artist with albums, public tour experience or distributed comedy routine. Having an album may or
may not disqualify you - ask to be sure S9Qualifications@TeenIdol.org
VOLUNTEERING - Parents and other Spanish & Russian speakers are needed to help with the finale and the
