played a bigger part than others for various reasons. Here are some of the schools of note:
Schools that are or will have auditions for Portland Teen Idol and Affiliated Beaverton Teen Idol
Centennial MS, Dexter McCarty MS, Clackamas Middle College, Lane Middle School,
Wilson High School & Laurelhurst School
Westview HS (Beaverton SD - Beaverton OR) has had the most students as finalists in PTI history. In the
2012 - '13 school year, 3 students were finalists including the 2012 standup winner; in 2011/2012 - 4 were
finalists including students from 2009 & 2010 program. In 2013, held a PTI / Beaverton Teen Idol Audition
that helped bring in students to our program.
The introduction of the Beaverton Teen Idol program has helped as we have been able to leverage our
resources to help them and they have helped us recruit by allowing cross agency applications and
auditions. The PTI director helped in the planning and organization of the program, provides the
applications and judge forms and awards.
Aloha HS (Beaverton SD - Beaverton OR) in 2011 opened their doors to allow the first school to allow in
school auditions where 26 students auditioned in one night making it the largest number of students to
audition from one school between season 5 & 7.
SUN - Schools Uniting Neighborhoods are primarily after school programs that are ran by Portland Parks
& Recreation and other independent schools - 64 in total as of March of 2013 and are involved with
holding workshops and auditions for the first time for Season 7. Dexter McCarty MS Principal, also having
a SUN School for Dexter McCarty attached, is one of the school audition coordinators for East Multnomah
county (DM is part of the Gresham SD).
